Lately, I've been thinking about how the Somali woman I am today didn't/hasn't existed before. I am still searching for terminology and verbiage (which I haven't discovered yet) to describe what I'm feeling and the experience of navigating and defining, redefining and creating something that has yet to be named. Whoever said being first generation is akin to artwork was right.
